And this is a neighborhood worth stepping outside for. St. Augustine Beach and the St. Augustine Beach Pier are an easy walk away, along with Pier Park, the splash pad, playground and green spaces. Around here, flip-flops are appropriate attire, plans are optional, and the ocean has a habit of changing whatever you thought you were going to do that day.

Back at Lo Tide, the updated kitchen and open dining space make staying in just as appealing. It’s fully equipped with the cookware, pots and pans, bakeware, dishes and glassware you need to actually cook — not just reheat takeout. There’s WiFi, TV, your own washer and dryer, plus beach chairs and towels ready for the next trip to the shore. Outdoor seating at both the front and back gives you even more room to enjoy being outside.

When curiosity wins, follow it. Explore the trails and waterways of Anastasia State Park, climb the St. Augustine Lighthouse, visit the Alligator Farm, get out on the water, or head downtown for the Castillo de San Marcos, historic streets, hidden courtyards, shops, restaurants and the waterfront.

Then come back to Lo Tide and settle into the easiest part of the day — deciding what, if anything, needs to happen next.
